FILLED: UVA Arts Social Media + Website Intern

Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts & UVA Arts

This position has been filled for 2026-2027. If you think you might be interested in this job for the next academic year, please reach out and let me know...

Love the arts? Spend time on Instagram? Notice a broken website link before anyone else does? UVA Arts is looking for a creative, curious, and organized student to help us tell the story of the arts across Grounds.

UVA Arts Social Media + Website Intern
Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts & UVA Arts
$16/hour | ~10 hours/week, up to 20 | Mostly Remote

You'll help keep the UVA Arts social media channels and website fresh, useful, and engaging, showcasing the performances, exhibitions, artists, students, faculty, and creative opportunities that make up UVA's vibrant arts community.

Most work can be done remotely, but we'll occasionally need an extra set of hands (and eyes and possibly a phone camera) at UVA Arts signature events.

What You'll Do:

Social Media + Storytelling

  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging social content for @uvaarts.
  • Take over the Great Big Arts Calendar started by alum Jack Ireland, a Miller Arts Scholar.
  • Find great stories from across the UVA arts community to share and amplify.
  • Capture occasional photos, video, and behind-the-scenes content.
  • Pitch ideas for features, campaigns, and new ways to engage our audiences.

Website

  • Add and update website content, events, stories, and opportunities.
  • Help keep pages current, accurate, accessible, and easy to navigate.
  • Hunt down broken links, outdated information, missing alt text, and other digital cobwebs.

Events + Other Arts Adventures

**Arts administration occasionally involves the highly technical task of moving a table from one side of a room to the other.

We're Looking for Someone Who...

  • Is a current UVA student and genuinely interested in the arts. You don't need to be an arts major!
  • Knows their way around social media and has good instincts about what makes content interesting and shareable.
  • Writes clearly, notices the little things, and is reliable and organized.
  • Is comfortable working independently, asking questions, and bringing ideas of their own.
  • Can work primarily remotely with occasional in-person availability.

Experience with Canva/Adobe, photography, video, website editing, graphic design, analytics, accessibility, and/or UVA Arts CIOs is a bonus—but definitely not required.

The Details:

$16/hour | Approximately 10 hours/week, with the opportunity for up to 20 hours/week.

The schedule is flexible and mostly remote, with regular check-ins via email, Zoom, and/or in person. Some in-person availability will be required for signature events and special programs.

This isn't an internship where you'll spend your time watching someone else do communications. You'll create and publish real content, help shape UVA Arts' digital voice, build your portfolio, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the incredible creative work happening across the University.

Come help us show people what's happening in the arts at UVA.
