The Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection is the only museum dedicated solely to the exhibition and study of Indigenous Australian art in the United States. It is located 10 minutes from UVa grounds at 400 Worrell Drive, off the 250 East Bypass at Pantops. The Education intern will work directly with the Manager of Education and Programs. Kluge-Ruhe has an ambitious Digital Engagement Strategy, and this internship project will help bring it to life! You will help us with our in-person summer programs, and you will help contribute to ongoing digital projects in a variety of ways. Note that Kluge-Ruhe is located off Grounds, and the selected candidate will be responsible for finding transportation to work on-site.

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Experience with Wordpress
    • Experience with Adobe Suite or Canva
    • A passion for educating the public about art, culture, race, colonialism, etc.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience planning or leading programs for the public
    • Experience with videography and/or video editing
    • Experience using YouTube to increase subscribers, views and engagement with video content
  • Eligibility & Stipend:
    • This internship seeks to increase diversity among museum professionals by providing internship support to students from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the museum-related fields. Applications are open to rising 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year UVA students from all fields of study who identify as African American, Hispanic American, American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.
    • The program offers $3500 to offset the cost of living or travel associated with unpaid and underpaid full-time museum internships.
