Gelli Plate Printing with Lou Haney

Geared toward children ages 6-13, in this workshop we will create unique monoprints inspired by the natural world.

*Registration Required

We’ll be working with a little of everything, here! Join us on Saturday August 24 for two artmaking sessions: from 11 am until 12:30 pm or from 2 pm until 3:30 pm, to create print collages with Lou Haney using found objects, ink, and paper. Geared toward children ages 6-13, all participants must be accompanied by an adult.

Lou will lead us in an exciting printmaking activity using Gelli Plates to create unique monoprints from a flexible silicone plate incorporating found objects such as leaves, natural materials, and stencils. Following a demonstration on layering paint and transferring it onto paper, you’ll have the opportunity to design your own creations and nature-inspired images!

Born in Decatur, Alabama, Lou Haney is an artist and art educator based in Charlottesville, VA. She has exhibited her work across the country, including solo exhibitions in 2024 at Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville, VA and Spectrum Fine Arts in Seattle, WA. The recipient of numerous awards, fellowships, and residencies, Haney was a finalist for the 2024 Bethesda Painting Prize.

There will be two artmaking sessions—one in the morning (11 am) and a second in the afternoon (2 pm). To register, please select your time preference using the links below:
