COMMUNITY EVENT • The Brecht Project Round 2: Fear & Misery of the Fourth Reich

Of his play Fear & Misery of the Third Reich Bertolt Brecht wrote:

“ ... what a fragile foundation fear and misery are ... how ineffectual terror is bound to be, in fact, how inevitably it must create resistance, even in sections of the population that originally welcomed it with cheers.”

The Brecht Project will be returning for Round 2! Fear and Misery of the Fourth Reich– premiering on April 16th 2026– is a collection of short plays taking place in the 21st century inspired by German playwright, Bertolt Brecht’s 1938 play entitled Fear and Misery of the Third Reich. Written by playwrights and performed by actors from across the country, these pieces reimagine Brecht’s urgent political warning for a contemporary moment–using Brecht’s lens to make sense of our world today. These plays reflect the urgency felt by these writers in our America.

We are excited to share these stories with audiences everywhere through a live virtual modality via StreamYard.

Performances will take place on the following evenings:

Saturday April 18: 7:30p EDT/4:30p PDT
