Building diverse communities through the arts
Founded in 2007 with a unique mission for dancer wellness, Charlottesville Ballet is the only full-time professional dance company in the Charlottesville area. Co-Directors Sara Clayborne and Emily Hartka are committed to elevating professional ballet with a healthy working environment for the artists.
The Charlottesville Mural Project incorporates community perspectives to showcase the talents of artists locally, regionally, and abroad while contributing to the cultural and visual vibrancy of the city. We believe public art can inspire people of all ages. By involving the public in projects that visibly change the landscape of our city, we help instill a sense of pride and ownership in our community.
Our Mission is to produce high-quality opera and musicals at affordable prices, to provide training opportunities and experience for Young Artists, Apprentice Singers, and Interns, to provide educational nourishment for all sectors of the community, and to enrich the cultural vitality and quality of life in Virginia.
Chroma Projects has risen to the challenge of locating in a number of pop-up spaces around town since losing its fabulous original downtown mall location. However, Chroma’s newest iteration as a Micro Gallery is now housed in a bank vault inside Vault Virginia.
CreativeMornings is a free, monthly breakfast lecture series for the creative community. It happens in 224 cities in 67 countries around the world. Charlottesville is the 180th chapter, and your local hosts are Kori Price, Emma Terry, and Maureen Brondyke. There will be a creative lecture on the 2nd Friday of each month (generally) centered around a global theme picked by CreativeMorning chapters around the world!
The Cville Tool Library aims to be a collective and collaborative space for empowering our community with tools. It is a place where community members can check out tools, similar to books at the library, for home repair, maintenance, and personal projects without having to buy and store tools they might only use a handful of times.
Empowered Players is a Fluvanna-based nonprofit designed to make a difference in the community through the arts. We promote youth empowerment, are dedicated to community service, and believe the arts have the power to unite.
Friends of Cville Downtown is a group of stakeholders who care deeply about the future of Cville, and work in partnership with City Government and the Community to craft strategies and implement projects that can stimulate Downtown social and economic vitality, and make Cville even better and more inclusive.
