The Miller Arts Scholars Program is an interdisciplinary collective of active artists supported by grants and a creative community that serves to embolden their art. We endeavor to have a meaningful presence in the art community while facilitating dialogue and close relationships between students and faculty.
Funded by a portion of each full-time UVA student’s activities fee, the UVA Arts$ program offers all full-time enrolled, degree-seeking UVA students one complimentary ticket for every performance of eligible UVA Arts events.
The Department of Drama offers advanced study leading to the Masters of Fine Arts degree in the following areas: Acting, Scenic Design and Technical Production, Lighting Design, and Costume Design & Technology.
The Department of Music offers graduate study leading to the Ph.D. in Music, with specializations in Critical and Comparative Studies (CCS) or Composition and Computer Technologies (CCT). The faculty provides mentoring in all aspects of music scholarship and composition, including publication, teaching, performance, technology, grant writing, and conference presentation.
The Aunspaugh Fifth Year Fellowship assists these students in fulfilling that goal. The primary purpose of the program is to help students develop their portfolios for admission to graduate school. The fellowship enables a UVA student, who has completed an undergraduate degree in Studio Art, to spend an additional year of intensive effort in a studio area within Ruffin Hall.
The PhD Program in Art and Architectural History enrolls approximately five students per year. All students receive a five-year package that includes full-tuition remission,
