Perfect Binding: Publishing, Politics, and Creative Practice with Danielle Dutton

Next Tuesday, April 4th at 6 PM, prose writer and publisher Danielle Dutton will read from recent work. Afterward, she’ll discuss with Professors Brian Teare and Micheline Marcom her career as prose writer, feminist publisher, and literary citizen. This short conversation will be followed by a Q&A. 

Dutton’s most recent book is the novel Margaret the First. Her fiction and criticism appear in The New Yorker, The Believer, The Paris Review, Harper's, BOMB, etc. She is an Associate Professor at Washington 

University in St. Louis, and the co-founder and editor of the award-winning feminist press Dorothy, a publishing project. For those who want to know more, do listen to this excellent podcast with Hilary Plum of the CSU Poetry Center. 

This event is funded by the UVA Arts Council and co-sponsored by the Creative Writing Program and the Virginia Center for the Book, who will be hosting the event in their location on the first floor of the Jefferson School. 

This will be an excellent event for writers, scholars of contemporary fiction, folx interested in the intersections of publishing, material culture, and gender studies, and anyone engaged in work across disciplines and within multiple communities.
