Washington, D.C.

Hosted by The Fralin Museum of Art at UVA Volunteer Board and our J. Sanford Miller Family Director, Karen E. Milbourne, our first Fralin Excursion of the 2024-2025 year will be a day trip to Washington, DC! Travel with us to the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art for an exceptional opportunity to tour two award winning exhibitions curated by our director, Karen E. Milbourne. She will lead us through her exhibition, From the Deep: In the Wake of Drexciya with Ayana V. Jackson which just won a Smithsonian Exhibition award and her exhibition, John Akomfrah: Five Murmurations which was selected as the #13 in the best exhibitions worldwide of 2023 by the art journal, Hyperallergic. Following our exhibition tours, we will have lunch at Swahili Village – The Consulate, a trendy fine dining African restaurant serving Kenyan classics. Afterwards we will tour the private collection at the D.C. home of contemporary art collectors Reuben and Kimberly Charles.

Fees are $135 for Members and $165 for Non-Member guests if space is available.
