COMMUNITY EVENT • Hope Olson Solo Exhibition OPENING: See How the Farmer Waits

Phaeton Gallery proudly presents See How the Farmer Waits, a solo exhibition by Michigan-based artist Hope Olson, on view from April 4 through April 27.

Inspired by the biblical passage James 5:7—“See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains”—this exhibition explores themes of patience, stewardship, and the quiet beauty of rural life.

Hope Olson’s work celebrates the dedication and care of those who cultivate the land and nurture its harvest. Her paintings depict serene agricultural and pastoral scenes, capturing the timeless rhythms of farming. With a distinctively nostalgic and folk-inspired approach, Olson creates compositions that reflect the essence of slow, intentional living.

A painter and mixed-media artist from Holland, Michigan, Olson draws inspiration from historic architecture, old country villages, and early 20th-century art movements, particularly Fauvism. Her vibrant use of color and expressive mark-making evoke a sense of comfort and curiosity, offering a contemporary yet timeless interpretation of everyday rural life.

Olson holds a B.S. in Interior Design from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois, with additional studio art and marketing studies.
