Art in the Microscopic World: Magnify Spring 2025 Art Show

The annual Magnify Art Show returns on Friday, May 9, from 6 to 9 PM at 305 E Water St in the future “CreatorHub” located on the ground floor of Vault Virginia, a coworking and event space downtown.

Admission is free and open to all.

This unique event showcases a creative partnership between researchers at the University of Virginia and art students from Charlottesville High School. Through Magnify, UVA researchers share their scientific work with students, who then create original artwork inspired by the research. Students also visit UVA lab spaces, gaining firsthand experience with the scientific process and the people behind it.

This year’s show will feature 62 new student pieces, highlight art from past years, and several works contributed by UVA researchers. In total, over 70 artists will be represented in the exhibition. Additionally, UVA researchers will conduct hands-on science demonstrations for participants at the event. Designed to spark curiosity and foster connection, the Magnify Art Show celebrates both scientific discovery and artistic expression—while also strengthening ties between the university and the local community.
