The Department of Music offers graduate study leading to the Ph.D. in Music, with specializations in Critical and Comparative Studies (CCS) or Composition and Computer Technologies (CCT). The faculty provides mentoring in all aspects of music scholarship and composition, including publication, teaching, performance, technology, grant writing, and conference presentation.
The Aunspaugh Fifth Year Fellowship assists these students in fulfilling that goal. The primary purpose of the program is to help students develop their portfolios for admission to graduate school. The fellowship enables a UVA student, who has completed an undergraduate degree in Studio Art, to spend an additional year of intensive effort in a studio area within Ruffin Hall.
The PhD Program in Art and Architectural History enrolls approximately five students per year. All students receive a five-year package that includes full-tuition remission,
The Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program at the University of Virginia is a three-year graduate program that admits five poets and five fiction writers each academic year.
Drama Students at UVA have the opportunity to pursue their degrees in a state-of-the-art theatre complex, which includes the 520-seat Culbreth Theatre with proscenium stage, the flexible 160 to 200-seat Helms Theatre and, the brand-new 300-seat Ruth Caplin Theatre, a thrust theatre.

The Visual Resources Center (VRC) grew out of individual faculty slide holdings in the late 1960's, into a centralized departmental collection in order to more effectively and efficiently share resources and avoid duplication of effort.
Milton LandLab is a collaboration between the School of Architecture's Landscape Architecture faculty and students with support from the FABLAB. It provides a unique opportunity for students to study and propose methodologies and practices for design research based in landscape mediums.
The Fabrication Lab, or FabLab, is a center for empowering people with tools for making, prototyping, and construction at a range of scales, materials, and techniques.
