UVA Faculty, Staff, & Students: All UVA faculty, staff, and students are eligible to enter the lottery (one submission per person) with an option to bring a guest.
Lottery: The deadline to enter the lottery is 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 28. Winners will be notified no later than 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 28. You will be asked to confirm your attendance, as we anticipate a waitlist and will allow those on the waitlist in, as we can.

Rita Dove, Henry Hoyns Professor of Creative Writing
Dove is a winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry and a former Poet Laureate of the United States. Her most recent collection is Collected Poems: 1974–2004 from W. W. Norton. More details.
Rita Dove was U.S. Poet Laureate from 1993–1995 and—with Louise Glück and W.S. Merwin—Special Consultant in Poetry for the Library of Congress bicentennial in 1999/2000, and she served as the Poet Laureate of Virginia from 2004–2006. In 1987 she received the Pulitzer Prize in poetry for her book Thomas and Beulah. Her other books of poetry include Playlist for the Apocalypse, Collected Poems 1974–2004, Sonata Mulattica, American Smooth, On the Bus with Rosa Parks, Mother Love, Grace Notes, Museum, The Yellow House on the Corner and Selected Poems; she has also published a book of short stories, Fifth Sunday, the novel Through the Ivory Gate, and a collection of her Poet Laureate lectures, The Poet’s World.
Arts on the Hill is a recurring event on Carr's Hill featuring artists and scholars from our faculty and student body, as well as visiting artists and scholars from around the globe. President Jim Ryan host guests each month during the academic year for performances and discussions around the Arts at UVA!! Arts on the Hill is an ongoing collaboration between the Office of the President & the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost.
