The Dance Program is pleased to present the work of two guest choreographers this semester: Cara Hagan and Ruth Olga Sherman. The Spring Dance Concert is on April 20, 21, and 22 at 8:00 p.m. in the Ruth Caplin Theatre. The spring concert will feature both live and screendance works by students, faculty, and guest artists for an evening of dance that explores multiple perspectives and themes through the practice of performance.

The Dance Program of the Department of Drama at the University of Virginia presents its Fall Dance Concert on November 17 – 19 at 8:00 p.m. in the Culbreth Theatre. This fall’s concert will feature the works of faculty, students, and guest choreographer Julia A. Vessey for an evening of performance that explores multiple perspectives and themes through the medium of dance.
Under Story & The Fralin, are sharing an upcoming immersive performance, Social Dance on May 27. They look forward to bringing this unique experience to the Charlottesville community.
“Having both dance and science in my life is incredibly important to me,” Ziff said. “Both activities are extremely rewarding, and I can’t imagine my time at UVA any other way.”
Many of UVA’s College of Arts & Sciences alumni with degrees in studio arts, drama or music go on to successful careers in arts and entertainment, in the world’s great museums or educating the next generation of creative minds. However, the number of arts majors who become leaders in business, law, technology and other areas suggests that the skills they learned in the studio and on the stage are helping them thrive in a wide range of pursuits.

The Charlottesville creative community is back in business, with concerts, art exhibitions, and events galore to keep students and community members entertained throughout the coming months!
Jubilant students, faculty, and staff gathered on the University of Virginia’s Lawn for the 20th anniversary of Lighting of the Lawn, a beloved tradition launched by students to forge unity after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The theme of UVA’s 20th annual Lighting of the Lawn is “Brighter Than Ever” and will feature dozens of student groups, including a cappella performances, a poem read by surprise guests, and a unique music and light show.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, University of Virginia faculty scrambled to find ways to deliver a traditional college education online. But as faculty in UVA’s College of Arts & Sciences worked to educate their students despite the obstacles presented by COVID-19, they found themselves creating the foundation for changes to the practice of art education – changes that may make it just a little better than it was before.
